• Social Media Addiction. Think I’m on the Brink. How about you?

I’m on holidays this week so I’ve had more time than usual to mess around on Social Media, particularly Facebook. I’ve noticed that the more often I check my accounts, the more often I want to check them.

    Does that happen to you?

It’s starting to feel kind of like an addiction.  Like I would be nervy if I had to go for a day without reading status updates.

I think my iPhone is making a big contribution. I’ve never been patient at waiting for things so if I have a few minutes to spare I may as well see what’s going on on Facebook to pass the time…

With these thoughts in mind, I did some Googling about Social Media Addiction and found this video via the Social Media Addicts Association

Watch the video about Social Media Addiction – it’s hilarious!

And if you have a mo, click on the link above and also read their “5 Steps to Kicking the Habit” in the right hand column – v funny!

This article on 5 Ways to fight social media addiction says that Social media addiction has gotten to the point where some people prefer Facebook over sex, do status updates from the bathroom or upon waking at night.

The issue is obviously far more wide spread than I realised!

How far can we go though? I don’t think social media will ever replace socialising with real people, but it is a fun way to pass time, connect with friends and build relationships for your business.

Do you find that the more time you spend on Facebook and Twitter, the more time you want to spend? And why is it so addictive?

It fun to check out Facebook from time to time but personally, I’d rather watch sports on TV!

    Guilty as charged!
I am someone who checks Facebook & Twitter first thing when I wake up (still in bed) and last thing at night and everywhere in between.

Someone just invited me to use the Rock Melt browser which is just plain dangerous, sharing from every spare pixel on the screen.

I am sooo addicted! Who needs TV?!!

      Nicely confessed :)

I should also add re the article that along with being hilarious, the vid is a great piece of marketing by Sony – creative, fun and topical!
